Syrias new riba fiat currency.

Congrats to the Syrian people and to President Ahmad al-Sharaa for removing the socialist dictator Bashar al-Assad’s face from the country’s currency / money. But I also want to respectfully point out that all fiat money (paper money) comes into existence via riba lending, like Saifedean Ammous explains in the clip below. Even if the money in Syria or any other Muslim majority country has Islamic symbols on it (even the shahadah) or any other historical / cultural emblems it still doesn’t really matter in essence if that money is connected to the US dollar and the global riba monetary system. I understand and sympathize that Syria doesn’t have many choices right now, especially after so many years of war. I also respect how difficult it must be for Ahmad al-Sharaa to make decisions that keep different groups happy. But I think that, in the long term, Syria (and all Muslim majority countries) should try to move away from riba based fiat currencies and toward systems that fit better with Islamic principles. I’m saying this primarily for the Sunni majority who supports al-Sharaa and care about Islamic jurisprudence.
