Bitcoin has been misused for illegal activities,
this does not make it inherently impermissible.
Shariah law judges assets based on their
nature, not the actions of a few users. Studies
show only a small fraction of Bitcoin
transactions are linked to crime, with fiat riba
cash being the preferred tool for illegal
activities due to its anonymity. Bitcoin’s
transparent and traceable blockchain
discourages criminal use and enhances
accountability. Therefore, its permissibility in
Shariah is based on its legitimate uses and
characteristics, not on isolated misuse.
